COVID-19 Free Health and Wellness Resources

A message from the Director of the Wellness Center and Intermural Activities, Alex Wunderlich:
I hope you are all staying healthy and well during this challenging time of social distancing and making the transition to remote classes and work. All of these sudden life changes can make for a stressful and challenging time, one of these changes is finding new ways to keep active and practice self-care for yourself and loved ones. To help you with this, below, you will find a list of some resources (websites, apps, etc.) that are offering free access and content during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Whether you are still going into work or working from home, it is a great time to focus on your health and or start a new wellness plan. Especially if your daily routines have changed, the difficulty most of us encounter when trying to start a new fitness or diet plan is now not as great a problem. Now the most significant issue is finding things you can do without leaving home or wellness solutions to lower your stress and of the people around you. Below are some free resources to help you to work on self-care and create new habits that you can continue once we are through this tough time.

Give some of these a shot, they are sure to be a lifesaver! Feeling stressed and overwhelmed with Canvas or Zoom classes? Take a breather and try out some of the meditations on Headspace or Insight Timer, they have some as brief as just a few minutes! Feeling restless or anxious from not being able to get to the gym? Try out an extended free trial from Peloton to check out any and all of their at-home fitness classes, or try out one of the other many resources that will fit your wants and needs down below. These are valuable resources in a time like this!

If you have any questions regarding at-home fitness or wellness (or anything wellness related for that matter), please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email; I am happy to help in any way I can!

Keep an eye out shortly for another message regarding an invite to a Student Life/Wellness Center Canvas course! I will be adding more resources and tips in the coming days and weeks to help us all get through this challenging time while staying healthy.

Staying Organized

With the transition to online learning, staying organized is going to be difficult. Here are three quick tips to keeping yourself organized with this new platform! 1. Keep a Planner When you’re working from home, it can be easy to forget what time, day, or even week it is. Keeping a planner and updating it daily is vital for keeping track of due dates and schedules. When you don’t have a regular class schedule, it’s important to keep a planner so that you know when your Zoom meetings are, when your assignments are due, and how that fits in with the rest of your schedule. There are so many online planner resources if you prefer to do it on your phone or computer; otherwise, Amazon has excellent planner options as well. 2. Continue to Use a School Bag I know it sounds kind of strange to use a bag when you’re staying home all day, but hear me out. If you still keep all of your stuff in your bag, not only have you contained the mess of schoolwork that you have, but y...

Making a plan and adjusting your studying may help you feel even a little sense of control.” I recommend you take a few minutes to read through more of this document by clicking  here .
