Video Game Movies are Finally Good

With the success of films such as Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog, and with the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot looking amazing, it seems like the video game movie curse has finally been lifted. But that doesn't mean we can't appreciate some of the past video game adaptations that paved the way to this modern renascence of the genre.

For example, the original Mortal Kombat movie, while cheesy, tame on violence, and having an admittedly bad script, is still a really fun action film that introduced many western audiences to Hong Kong style action, years before The Matrix hit theaters.

We also can't forget the impact of the original animated Pokémon movies had on the box office. It's very likely that those film's success is part of the reason why the franchise is still thriving  to this day.

But I have a question for you, what video game movies do you think are underappreciated? Are their any other upcoming adaptations that you're exited for? let me know in the comments below.
