Senior Send Off Video

A message to the graduating class,

I know how tough it’s been for everyone in this time. For other seniors, like myself, it’s a little disappointing knowing we won’t be having a graduation ceremony in May. Because of this, I wanted to do something special.

I’m hoping that as a graduating class, we can put together a nice video as a reminder of the unique situation that we’ve been in, and that through all of this, we have still pulled through, and are all (soon-to-be) college graduates.

I recognize that as a community college, students are of all different ages and phases of life. I think this makes us all the more powerful as a class, and makes our story all the more interesting and meaningful. I hope to put a piece of that story into a short clip for all of us to have and remember for many years to come.

If you want to participate, I am just asking that you send in a short video clip, or a quote or short sentiment accompanied with a photo of yourself. Video clips are, of course, preferred, but if you aren’t comfortable videotaping yourself, you can also send in something written accompanied by an image. Content can be anything from inspirational quotes, to plans for the future, where you might be transferring, or the career you’re hoping to pursue or continue to move upward in. Images can be headshots, photos of you at NCC, wearing the colors of your transfer college, or anything else you might want. Be creative, this is about us. Please have your contributions in by Friday May 1st so that we can send out the video by the end of finals week for everyone.

We’ve been through a lot in the last couple of months. I hope that you will all join me in creating something for NCC to remember us by.

Thank you all,

Making a plan and adjusting your studying may help you feel even a little sense of control.” I recommend you take a few minutes to read through more of this document by clicking  here . You’ll find helpful strategies and links to resources for making a successful adjustment to online...

Random Thought: an Anti-Karen Restaurant

Everyone who has worked in food service knows that Karens are the worst. They confront you about the littles things (sometimes for no reason at all), they belittle you at every opportunity, and they are constantly asking to see the manager, hoping to see you punished for just doing your job. The worst part, you have to take it all without the slightest hint of sass, or else your the bad guy in your employer's eyes. But what if you worked at a restaurant that would not only take your side, but actively encouraged sassy behavior? That's were my idea comes in, "The Haven from Karen Dinner and Grill".      Inspired by a Hungarian  restaurant from State College, PA, that would paddle guests that didn't finish their food; this Dinner's staff is encouraged to finish every customer interaction with a bit of sass. They are encouraged to welcome every guess with a sarcastic remark like "welcome to Haven From Karen, would...
