Mother's day is this Sunday

With the Pandemic going on, it may be difficult to celebrate Mother's Day the same way you would any other year. So if you aren't in a position to see her in person, then I recommend setting up a 45 minute zoom meeting with her. That way, you can have a conversation face too face, while also being a safe distance apart. I would also recommend sending her a gift via that mail, perhaps even having her open it on camera so you can see the surprise in her eyes.       If you are still living in the same household as her, and as such can spend the entire day with her safely, then I recommend these classic Mother's Day surprises. First of all, clean the house for her while she watches whatever she wants. This day is all about her, so she shouldn't have to lift a finger, unless it is for scrolling through Netflix. Secondly, give her a gift that shows you care. It can be hand made, or sore bought; just be sure that it is a gift that represents her i...

Farwell to the Student Blog

I had a lot of fun writing for this blog. My favorite article that I wrote was probably  my meatloaf recipe, since I love sharing food ideas with people, and that meatloaf was probably one of my best recipes. I also loved my "Video Game Movies are Good Now" article, since I could share my love of both cinema and video games with all of you.  Once this semester ends, I'll officially be done writing for the blog, Its been fun, and if this happens to be the last article I write, I hope you enjoy it. Until we meet again!

Favorite memory of NCC

With the semester coming to a close, I would like to share my favorite memory of NCC of Spring 2021. For me, it would be when I first got back on campus after half a year online. It was just really nice to walk around campus, sitting face to face (but still six feet apart), with my friends. And with so many other Americans getting vaccinated, we might be able to be 100% in person by the start of the Summer semester.  But what was your favorite NCC memory? let me know in the comments, and have a great day.

Graduation is Only One Month Away

There's only one month to go before our Spring 2021 students graduate. In leu of this occasion, I want us to look back at our time at NCC. For me, my best memory of NCC comes when I met new friends when I joined Nerd Club. I remember discussing the latest game or movie with them, and playing Magic The Gathering in our spare time. I haven't been able to meet with any of them since the pandemic began, but I'm hoping to play one last game in person some day.      But what are your fondest memories of NCC? share them in the comments below, and I hope you have a wonderful week!

Video Game Movies are Finally Good

With the success of films such as Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog, and with the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot looking amazing, it seems like the video game movie curse has finally been lifted. But that doesn't mean we can't appreciate some of the past video game adaptations that paved the way to this modern renascence of the genre.     For example, the original  Mortal Kombat movie, while cheesy, tame on violence, and having an admittedly bad script, is still a really fun action film that introduced many western audiences to Hong Kong style action, years before The Matrix hit theaters.      We also can't forget the impact of the original animated Pokémon movies had on the box office. It's very likely that those film's success is part of the reason why the franchise is still thriving  to this day.      But I have a question for you, what video game movies do you think are underappreciated? Ar...

Random Thought: an Anti-Karen Restaurant

Everyone who has worked in food service knows that Karens are the worst. They confront you about the littles things (sometimes for no reason at all), they belittle you at every opportunity, and they are constantly asking to see the manager, hoping to see you punished for just doing your job. The worst part, you have to take it all without the slightest hint of sass, or else your the bad guy in your employer's eyes. But what if you worked at a restaurant that would not only take your side, but actively encouraged sassy behavior? That's were my idea comes in, "The Haven from Karen Dinner and Grill".      Inspired by a Hungarian  restaurant from State College, PA, that would paddle guests that didn't finish their food; this Dinner's staff is encouraged to finish every customer interaction with a bit of sass. They are encouraged to welcome every guess with a sarcastic remark like "welcome to Haven From Karen, would...

I Just Had Stuffed Artichokes for Easter and It Was Amazing.

This past Sunday was Easter, and while my family and I had the usually fixings of ham and potatoes, we also tried something new, a recipe for stuffed artichokes. We decided to give the recipe a shot after getting it and the artichokes in a produce box that we get bi-weekly. And I have to say it, it was delicious. The recipe was from the Food Network website, liked here:  https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchen/stuffed-artichokes-recipe-2107705 .      I recommend that you give it a try yourself, though there are some thing you should know that the recipe doesn't tell you.       First, most people don't know ho to eat an artichoke, and even I had to look up videos before chowing down. Basically, you peel off a leaf and use you teeth to scrape off the "meat" from the leaf. you continue to to do this step until you reach its center and the leaves are all gone.      Sec...

Hybrid learning starts next week

Starting next week, NCC will be transitioning into a hybrid format. That essentially means that One class a day will be in person on campus, and the other will be online. Be sure to talk with your professors about which day will be online, and which will be in person. I would recommend printing out a schedule on canvas and marking which days are in person and which aren't. I can't wait to see you all on campus, socially distant, of course.

Important information for those graduating in the Spring

I'm relaying a message that was sent by Kristen Heath: Good Afternoon,   Due to the high volume of graduates that have expressed their interest in attending the ceremony on  Friday, May 14th , as well as, where the city of Nashua is with COVID-19;  President Jordan and NCC Leadership have made the decision to hold two commencement ceremonies that day, to ensure the safety of everyone involved with the event.   We will now hold one ceremony at 10AM and another will be held at 1PM, dividing our graduating class up by majors.  Please find the major you are graduating from below, to see the ceremony time that you are scheduled to attend that day. 10AM                                                                Accounting              ...

We've had a total of 66 posts on the blog since it's inception, so I wanted to know your favorites. Mine is the post about helping with anxiety. Is their any that you thought could be better? Let me know in the comments, and stay tuned for more posts in the future.

Elvis Bread Recipe

In honor of the King, I decided to adapt hi favorite food, peanut butter and banana sandwich into a delectable banana bread desert.  Ingredients: 1/2 cup butter 1 cup sugar 1 1/2 cup flour 2 eggs, beaten  1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 2 brown bananas 1/4 cup peanut butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Directions: Put the peanut butter in a sauce pan and put it on a low heat burner. While the peanut butter is melting, get out a mixing bowl and mix together the sugar and softened butter until fully incorporated. Then, in a separate bowl, mash the bananas into a mushy paste and add it to the other ingredients. Add the beaten eggs an vanilla extract to the mix and stir together. Finally, mix together the flour, salt, and baking soda in a separate bowl and then add it to the other ingredients. Mix until fully incorporated.  Finally, pour the mixture into a well greased bread pan. then, after the peanut butter is fully melted, pour in into the middle of your mixt...

Peepsi is a thing now.....

The crossover no one wanted is coming to  fruition. Peeps and Pepsi are coming together to create a Peeps flavored Pepsi that the internet dubbed Peepsi. I have no idea what mad man came up with this idea, and I'm not sure if I should thank them or curse their existence. I guess I'll find out when I eventually try a can of Peepsi, and I'll be sure to let you all know if it is any geed.

Blog Anniversary Update

Ok, I won't be able to do the Blog's one year anniversary post tomorrow, but I will do a few special posts on Friday, (including a special recipe I've been working on), so be sure to be here on the 26th!

Justice League: Snyder Cut Review (no spoilers)

The Snyder cut for Justice League has finally been released, and long story short, it is MUCH better than the Theatrical cut. Characters like the Flash and Cyborg, who were side characters in the Theatrical cut, become the heart and soul of the Snyder cut. It is actually insane how much of both of their stories were left out of the Theatrical version. It's no wonder why Cyborg's actor Ray Fisher and Joss Whedon clashed so much during the reshoots. Even the villain had a minor glow up, from just deciding to concur the Earth for no good reason in the original, to having an actual motivation in the new version (no details in this review because of spoilers).  Another big improvement is the CGI. While the visual effects won't be blowing people away, they are an improvement over the Theatrical cut. For instance, Superman no longer has that uncanny upper lip, so that memed about eyesore is gone.  Steffenwolf also looks much better, especially with his cool now spiky armor. Al...

Meatball Recipe

Recently, I have been experimenting with making the best meatballs I can, and I think I finally accomplished that goal.  Ingredients:   1lbs  ground beef   1 cup  Italian   breadcrumbs   1 packet  Italian  seasoning   2 tablespoons onion powder   1 tablespoon garlic powder   ½ cup Parmesan cheese   1 tablespoon  Parsley   1 tablespoon Basil   1 tablespoon red pepper flakes   1  teaspoon  paprika   1 egg   Salt and pepper   Directions   First off, get a pound of ground beef in a bowl .    Next add 1 cup of Italian breadcrumbs , ½ cup Parmesan,   2 tablespoons of onion powder , one tablespoon of garlic powder,  one tablespoon red pepper flakes , 1 teaspoon paprika,   1 tablespoon Parsley, one tablespoon Basil  one teaspoon salt and black pepper,  and finally, one large egg.  With  all of  your ingredients in the bow...
